Straight From Today’s Headlines
If you know anything about the culture of Seattle and the Pacific Northwest, this book will definitely leave you laughing between the headlines.
The Rainier Paradigm
Although the story is based around the University of Washington in Seattle, the story actually begins, as the author did, in the small town of Sequim. That is where our heroine spends her early years catching crabs in Sequim Bay and falling in love with a young boy named Julian Fry.
Sure enough, fate will deal Melissa Ross a harsh blow before she leaves high school. After a family tragedy, Melissa’s future is completely uncertain. Unable to gain acceptance into respectable schools like Washington State University, Melissa is forced to try her luck at the infamous ‘U Dub.’
The Good
The characters in the Rainier Paradigm play their roles appropriately well, depending upon your particular point of view. Melissa Ross tries to maintain her values after she finds herself in a situation for which she never asked.
Once in, it is impossible for Melissa to escape the most powerful men in the country and their diabolical plan to activate to Mount Rainier. We can only hope she will be able to remain true to her small-town virtues in the face of doom.
The Bad
Although to themselves, they’re the good guys, agent Ronald “Road Rage” Voorhees and his sidekick Tommy Langdon aren’t anything but hired thugs for the Deep State.
When Julian Fry, Melissa’s old flame from Sequim shows up trying to take down her new flame and a plan to activate Mount Rainier, agents “Road Rage” Voorhees and Langdon are going to do everything to stop Julian Fry from slicing and dicing Clayton Powell III.
That’s right, Melissa’s new flame is none other than Clayton Powell III of the banking and political Powells.
Neither he or she know the prodigy rich kid was planted at the University of Washington in order to further his family’s plans of bringing a boom to the Pacific Northwest real estate market, literally.
The Beautiful
Both the unassuming Melissa and her new beau Clayton Powell are ignorant of the devious mission Clayton’s father, uncle, the Deep State and a mysterious organization called the Minderburgers are about to assign to Clayton Powell III.
Of course, Clayton too would have a love interest from his youth reappear to help him complete his mission.
Admiral Briton Staley, commanding the naval side of the top secret operation, was a young fighter pilot when she taught Clayton Powell III the meaning of the term ‘joystick.’
The Somewhere-In-Between
At the same time Melissa’s love for Clayton is growing, Julian Fry and his group of West Coast Hackers, or “Whackers,” hack into a program they have never seen before.
It shows them the eruption of Mount Rainier with the use of a space based device.
Once the Whackers lock onto the Rainier Paradigm, the two agents from the Naval Undercover Tracking Service lock on to them.
The H.E.R.P.E.
Though a temporary fix until the Department of Anagrams or the officers involved with the program are able to come up with a better one, the program was stuck with H.E.R.P.E. Or the Hyper Electromagnetic Radiation Pulse Extender, The earth based component of the H.E.R.P.E.is housed in a remote area in Alaska accessible only by aircraft.
The new complex, the third of its kind, does one thing, it produces massive amounts of electricity and then transmits it into space.
